A Boy & His Hellhound

KENNY
Kenny lives on the street, but he isn’t homeless. Child of a neglectful, abusive & addicted couple, Kenny left his home in search of a better life. (Though adults that Kenny encounters don't know his brief life’s details, it's easy for them to tell that the bright little boy has endured tough times. Many of them rally around him for this reason.)

Plus, Kenny has Puppy.

Kenny loves Puppy. He/it is his best friend. Kenny totally trusts the—whatever Puppy is. No fear whatsoever—from the beginning. In his bestial, violent heart, Puppy senses this & reciprocates with total devotion toward the boy.

PUPPY
Puppy's an enigma—a creation that is partly scientific & partly cabbalistic. (It's good to point out Hellboy as an excellent example of the mix between these two.)

"Shadows & substance," was a mantra constantly used by Cocidius MacMurchadha, a powerful warlock in New Orleans. In order to gain access to arcane power, MacMuchadha learned that half-fashioning/half-summoning a powerful familiar will enable him to siphon evil nether energy. Additionally, this familiar will function as his mindless servant. Puppy is created/brought into this dimension under such circumstances.

Kenny is the catalyst by which Puppy frees himself from Cocidius' violent abuse, killing the warlock in this escape (or did he?). MacMurchadha is a principal member of a super-covert international coven of the unexplainable, the Société de la Macabre.

The Nomadic Story's Trajectory
Kenny's okay with Puppy drifting in & out of his life. The boy doesn't understand the word "symbiotic" but this best explains his connection with Puppy.

Stories are set in the turbulent, transformative 1960s. The era's true history—civil rights, war, desegregation, drugs, the burgeoning women's movement, free love & more subjects—will intertwine with the Kenny & Puppy's macabre setting & Puppy's connection to things supernatural. One story may be heavy on social commentary; the next may deal with issues of the occult; a third may well mix these elements into the narrative.
